Claremore Tornado Damage Confirmed by National Weather Service

Severe Damage Assessment Released

Claremore, OK - May 25, 2024

The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Claremore, Oklahoma, on May 25, causing significant damage to homes and structures. Preliminary surveys by NWS teams have revealed severe damage in several areas of the city.

According to storm chasers and witnesses, the tornado struck Claremore around 5:30 pm, tearing through the city with winds estimated to have reached up to 130 mph. Homes and businesses were heavily damaged, with some structures completely destroyed.

The NWS has issued a damage assessment report, which details the extent of the damage caused by the tornado. The report indicates that dozens of homes have been damaged or destroyed, along with several commercial buildings and public structures.

Local emergency crews and volunteers are currently working to clear debris and assist residents and businesses affected by the tornado. The Red Cross has set up shelters to provide aid to those displaced from their homes.
